Location is one of the most important factors in deciding whether or not to open a tattoo studio. You don’t want to set up shop in a place where competition is already strong.
You’ll need employees to run your shop. But how many people does it take to operate a successful tattoo parlor? While it varies depending on the size of your operation, anywhere from three to six employees is usually enough. Of course, you’ll need to hire skilled artists, too, and you’ll probably want to offer apprenticeships to help trainees gain experience.
If you plan to open a tattoo shop, you’ll obviously need equipment. This includes everything from tattoo machines to chairs to lights. You’ll also need supplies such as needles, ink, paper towels, bandages, etc. Depending on the size of your shop, you could end up spending thousands of dollars on equipment alone.
