What to wear to Igloofest
It’s an outdoor festival by the St. Lawrence in January, so dress for real cold:
- Layers: a thermal base layer, a warm mid-layer and a windproof outer layer. You’ll warm up dancing and cool down fast when you stop.
- Warm boots: insulated and waterproof, with good grip for snow and ice.
- Hat, gloves and neck warmer: the wind off the river is the coldest part of the night.
- Hand and foot warmers: small, cheap and worth it.
- A small bag only: check the festival’s rules for what you can bring in.
Getting to Igloofest
- Metro: Champ-de-Mars station is the closest; Place-d’Armes is also within walking distance.
- On foot: the Jacques-Cartier Pier is at the foot of Place Jacques-Cartier, along de la Commune Street.
- Plan your ride home: the night ends late, and the Old Port gets busy when the gates close.
Before the party: a walk-in tattoo in the Old Port
Oly Anger Tattoo is at 9 de la Commune St. West, a short walk west of the Jacques-Cartier Pier along de la Commune Street. Making a weekend of it? Come by earlier in the day for a small tattoo or a flash piece: we welcome walk-ins every day, subject to artist availability, first come, first served. Our opening hours are on the homepage.

For a bigger or custom piece, book a consultation and plan it around your Igloofest dates.
Can you go to Igloofest with a fresh tattoo?
You can, but plan it well. A fresh tattoo is an open wound for the first few days, so:
- Don’t drink before your session. Alcohol thins the blood and makes tattooing harder. Get tattooed first, sober, and celebrate later.
- Keep it covered and clean at the festival, especially from crowds and spilled drinks.
- Avoid friction: tight layers and heavy coats rubbing on a fresh tattoo can irritate it. A placement that isn’t squeezed by your winter gear is easier.
- Ideal timing: get tattooed a few days before your Igloofest night, or the day after, so the first, most sensitive phase of healing isn’t spent in a crowd.
- Follow your aftercare: everything is in our tattoo aftercare guide.
